A Private Suite for Your Parents

Keep aging parents close while giving them the independence and dignity they deserve – in a fully equipped suite just steps from your back door.

Family Care

Care Without Compromise

The "sandwich generation" is caught between raising children and caring for aging parents – and the cost of assisted living in Texas now exceeds $5,000 per month. Moving a parent into a facility they don't want to be in helps no one.

An in-law suite is the practical, compassionate alternative. Your parents stay on your property with their own private entrance, bathroom, and living space – close enough for daily check-ins, independent enough to preserve their routine and dignity. It's aging in place on your terms, and financing options make it more accessible than years of facility bills.

Why an In-Law Suite ADU?

Single-Level Living

No stairs, no lofts, no ladders. Every room is on one accessible level – designed for comfort and safety as mobility needs change over time.

Close Proximity

Your parents are just steps away for daily check-ins, shared meals, and peace of mind – without anyone sacrificing their personal space.

Massive Savings

At a fraction of assisted living costs, an in-law suite pays for itself in under two years while keeping your family together on one property.

Private Entrance

A separate entrance maintains dignity and independence. Your parents come and go on their own schedule without feeling like a guest in someone else's home.

In-Law Suite Questions

Can we add ADA-accessible features?

Yes. We can incorporate wider doorways, grab bars, walk-in showers, and zero-threshold entries into any Elbow Room model. These features are planned during the design phase so they integrate seamlessly into the finished space.

Suite vs Residence for aging parents?

A Suite is ideal for parents who share meals with you and want a private sleeping and bathing area with a kitchenette for coffee and snacks. A Residence provides a full kitchen and complete independence – best for parents who prefer to cook and live on their own schedule.

Do I need to widen doorways or add grab bars?

Standard Elbow Room doorways accommodate most needs. If your family member uses a wheelchair or walker, we can customize doorway widths, add grab bars, and install walk-in showers during the design phase at minimal additional cost.

How does an in-law suite affect my insurance?

You should notify your insurer when adding an ADU to your property. Most homeowner policies can add ADU coverage at a modest increase. Because every Elbow Room is fully permitted and built to code, insurers typically have no issue extending coverage.
