A man-cave today, an aging-in-place residence tomorrow — this Lynda 24x20 Residence was designed around a deliberate multigenerational transition.
The owners wanted a complete, standalone space on their Adkins property that they could enjoy right now and move into later. Step one: a detached retreat with a full kitchen, full bath, and open studio layout that serves as their personal getaway. Step two, years down the road: the same unit becomes their primary residence as their adult children take over maintenance of the main home.
The interior uses a custom design kit based on our Classic look — warm wood tones, timeless cabinetry, and fixtures that will still feel right in twenty years. Nothing about the finishes shouts "temporary," because nothing here is temporary.
The open studio bed/living space keeps the floor plan flexible for both life chapters. Today it reads as a generous lounge and entertaining space; tomorrow it holds a bedroom zone plus a quiet sitting area. One building, two lifestyles, zero renovation required in between.
